I almost want to forward your article to every big company leader I know. This is almost my life story. In the past 10 years when startups became trendy, I have experienced so great ideas in multinationals being killed by this psuedo startup environment. They starve their departments financially to simulate a bootstrap experience, which results in many good ideas dying a financial death. But this is wrong! Many startups are well funded by VC and bootstrapping happens for the very specific valley of death period not throughout the innovation process.

I also agree that not every idea is suitable for the startup model. I cannot imagine a startup building a hydropower dam. (Maybe they can..but definately not an optimal arrangement).
